The Corner Dance Lab – Indigenous Residency Scholarship
Want to challenge your perceptions of what dance is with some of Australia’s leading dance makers?
Dance Integrated Australia and The Farm are seeking Expressions of Interest from Early Career/Emerging Indigenous dancers for a residency opportunity at the third annual Corner Dance Lab from 15 – 23 January 2016 in the Byron Bay Hinterland. Come and be part of a creative exchange of idea with over 30 practicing artists from all over the globe.
About the Scholarship
Two indigenous dancers will receive scholarships valued at $1500 each to attend the summer dance intensive in Federal NSW. These scholarships are thanks to generous support from Arts Northern Rivers.
The Corner Dance Lab – Indigenous Residency Scholarship is aimed at pre-professional, tertiary dance graduates and emerging artists in the first three years of their career.
The $1500 scholarship will contribute towards travel, accommodation, cover registration fees and provide the artist with mentoring and creative advice throughout the Lab.
About The Corner Dance Lab
Creative Director of Dance Integrated Australia Philip Channells and Co-Director/Choreographer of The Farm, Gavin Webber established The Corner Dance Lab in 2013.
The 9-day dance Lab is suitable for artists wanting to challenge themselves physically, intellectually and artistically.
The Corner Dance Lab attracts local and international artists from diverse backgrounds, different embodiment and life experiences who want to challenge themselves to work in an inclusive dance environment.
The Corner Dance Lab engages renowned teachers that will instruct daily routines, practice, ideas and experiments for an intensive program encompassing technique classes and improvisation to Yoga and choreographic practice.
The Corner Dance Lab creates an accessible and supportive environment for participants of all abilities.
Be prepared to challenge yourself to find out what it is that is unique about you and what you have to say. No matter what type of dance you are interested in, without knowing your own voice you will never be able to speak.

- a short biography (200 words max)
- a head shot / performance shot (in landscape format)
- a letter of support from a mentor, teacher or elder
- your responses to the following questions
