Josh Thomson

Joining the teaching team for the The Corner Dance Lab 2014, is Joshua Thomson who will work with Craig Bary, Phil Blackman, Philip Channells (Creative Director, Dance Integrated Australia), Kate Harman, Lee-Anne Litton and Gavin Webber (Animal Farm Collective).

Joshua’s workshop will be an introduction to partnering, investigating the importance of clear physical communication between dancers whilst dancing together. Broadening the participants understanding of new and different ways to hold and be held, to be manipulated/manipulate and to encourage participants to think beyond the first impulse or thought. It will build trust and understanding of the play between two peoples physicalities.

The workshop will end with a short Q & A.

BIOGRAPHY

Josh Thomson is a 2005 Bachelor of Fine Arts (Dance) graduate of the Queensland University of Technology. Joshua has worked with company such as Tasdance, Gavin Webber’s dancenorth, Perth Theatre Company, Expressions, Splinter Group, La Boite Theatre Company, and PVC – Physical Virus Collective (Germany), Animal Farm Collective, Legs On The Wall and Shaun Parker & Company.

In 2009 he toured throughout Australia with Gavin Webber’s “underground” and later toured the UK with Tanja Liedtke’s ‘Twelfth Floor’ and Shaun Parker & Company’s ‘Happy as Larry”.  He has also toured through Europe with Animal Farm Collective’s “Food Chain”, “Little Pig” and “Good little Solder”. He has also worked with independent choreographers such as Gavin Webber, Ross McCormack, Troy Mundy, Jo Stone and Paulo Castro, Byron Perry and Nanette Hassall.

Joshua’s teaching credits include Force Majeure, Shaun Parker & Company, Footnote Dance Company, New Zealand School of Dance, WAAPA, NADISA, Tanja Liedtke international workshops, dancenorth, Buzz Dance Theatre, STRUT Dance, LINK Dance Company, Splinter Group, Legs on the Wall and PVC.
