Accessible Arts presents its fourth national bi-annual Arts Activated Conference: Creative Connections on Tuesday 28 – Wednesday 29 October, at The Concourse, Chatswood, Sydney. Philip Channells (Creative Director, Dance Integrated Australia) will contribute to the International Collaborations Program Stream, which is being co-curated by Arts Access Australia.
The Arts Activated Conference brings together leading thinkers, artists, advocates, practitioners and producers to learn, explore and contribute to the conversation about current practice in arts and disability.
Accessible Arts promotes and provides opportunities for people with disability to participate in arts and cultural activities either as audience members; through attending galleries, theatres, museums and festivals; or as participants in art, drama, music, dance and multimedia activities; and by developing as professional artists.
With his Norwegian colleague Dr. Tone Pernille Østern, Channells will co-present ‘PERFECT (im)PERFECTIONS – creating dance art with performers with and without disability’. This presentation is scheduled during Session 3 from 1:30–2:20pm on Day 2 of the conference.
As an artist with disability, Philip’s commitment to the development of dance in Australia has been a significant contribution to the dance and disability sectors. Philip’s international engagements and expertise in dance across Australia and particularly in regional NSW are testimony to his abilities and capacity to promote and advocate for change in the arts.
