Showing in Federal

Screen Shot 2014-10-15 at 6.22.33 pmShowing this Friday night 7pm at the Federal School of Arts’ chapel is the first instalment of IT’S ALL ABOUT ME (solo series) with a work in progress with director/choreographer, Philip Channells and Sydney-based filmmaker, actor and dancer, Daniel Monks.

Channells and Monks have been collaborating in Federal as part of Monks’ Amplify your art grant program of activities which has provided him financial assistance to attach himself to several Dance Integrated Australia (DIA) projects.

IT’S ALL ABOUT ME (solo series) is a new initiative of DIA which supports the development of new work my emerging artists with different life experience.

My first week of the “IT’S ALL ABOUT ME (solo series)” residency has been challenging, rewarding & fun. I’ve been stretched & pushed, not only conceptually, but also physically. What I have thought my body is capable of has been expanded & perceived limitations have been tested, which has been liberating & exciting. Daniel Monks

Joining the collaboration is local resident musician, Dominic Rado who worked with Dance Integrated Australia for The Corner Dance Lab project in January this year. Rado will accompany Monks throughout the performance and join the post show Q&A.
