Coming to Byron Bay’s Scout Hall from Tuesday 14 – Friday 24 November 2017 is Dance Integrated Australia’s multi art-form project, ‘Raconteurs’.
Led by Creative Director Philip Channells, the ‘Raconteurs’ project is a series of immersive skills development workshops spanning across art-forms including: writing for the theatre, dance, movement, street performance and choreography, story telling & journeying, sound design & Djing and interdisciplinary practice.
This inaugural project supports anyone of all background, ability and life experience interested in self expression to deepen their understanding of creative practice, connect with like minded people and seed new collaborations.

As part of The Corner Residency Program initiated by Dance Integrated Australia in 2014 and based in the NSW Northern Rivers region, the ‘Raconteurs’ project promotes a model of engagement in the arts that sustains growth in the creative sectors, nourishes diverse artistic practice and builds industry collegiality within our community. Led by a team of impressive artists who work locally, across Australia and internationally, the ‘Raconteurs’ workshop program is an immersive skills development project which is open to the wider community.

Who can join ‘Raconteurs’?
The project is open to anyone interested in working in and developing new skills across one or more art forms including: writing for the theatre, dance, improvisation and choreography, physical theatre, sound design and DJing, street performance and interdisciplinary practice.
The workshops can be offered as ‘bundles’ or participants can opt in and out of art-form specific workshops with their preferred facilitator.

‘Raconteurs’ supports the development of artists’ practice, while at the same time provides the community with another significant creative event that boosts the NSW North Coast and Northern Rivers region’s creative reputation. Philip Channells
Venue
Most workshops will take place at the ‘Raconteurs Hub’, which is situated at the Byron Bay Scout Hall: 28 Tennyson St, Byron Bay NSW 2481. This is an accessible venue for people with mobility impairment.
