One of the Movers in Residence for the inaugural Salamanca Moves Festival in Hobart is Philip Channells, Creative Director of Dance Integrated Australia. This new contemporary dance festival for Tasmania is conceived and produced by Salamanca Arts Centre and runs from 20 September – 1 October 2016 at the Salamanca Precinct and other Hobart venues.
Under the artistic direction of Kelly Drummond Cawthon, the Festival delivers an ambitious and extensive program of free and ticketed dance performances, including the creation of new works and critically acclaimed productions.
Dancers of all levels are invited to experiment and get physical through a series of development dance workshops and performance opportunities led by national and international contemporary dance makers.
Contemporary dance really is suitable for any BODY and every BODY. It’s an expression of who we are and what moves us and it’s that philosophy that underpins the whole Festival. Kelly Drummond Cawthon
