‘Off the Record’ is a new work co-produced by Force Majeure and Carriageworks in partnership with Dance Integrated Australia.
How much of yourself do you reveal to the outside world? Whilst we like being heard, there may be consequences to over-sharing. So, over time we learn to keep our inner voice quiet; to abide by ‘acceptable’ behaviours. But away from society’s judging eyes, would you behave differently?
‘Off the Record’ is a light-hearted exploration of the rituals that govern the way we live; weighing up the consequences of playing it safe and toeing the line, versus breaking the rules. In this Australian premiere, Force Majeure and Dance Integrated Australia bring together a diverse group of artists to consider life ‘off-the-record’.

Off The Record Masterclass
Force Majeure and Dance Integrated Australia will introduce participants to the creative process used to create dance theatre work Off The Record. This is an opportunity for arts workers interested in learning more about creating dance theatre with artists with and without disability. Led by co-directors Danielle Micich and Philip Channells, the masterclass has a practical component and covers the following:
– Audition, devising and rehearsal process
– Supporting artists with access needs
– Embedding access into theatre making
The masterclass is suitable for emerging and established artists, dance and drama teachers, community arts practitioners working across the arts and disability sector.
The entire Off The Record season will be AUSLAN interpreted by performer Neil Phipps. Audience members may also access Audio Description upon request.
Off the Record is commissioned by Carriageworks for the National Arts and Disability Strategy New Normal.
The project is supported by the NSW Government through the NSW Department of Family and Community Services and Arts NSW and by devolved funding administered by Accessible Arts (AARTS) on behalf of the Lifetime Care and Support Authority (LTCSA).
