NEWS FLASH! We are thrilled to announce the artist line up for The Corner Dance Lab 2015.

The Corner Dance Lab is based around a basic philosophy of utilising communication as a creative tool. Philip Channells (Dance Integrated Australia) and Gavin Webber (The Farm) piloted the project in January this year, which attracted some of Australia’s leading dance artists who facilitated workshops and masterclasses at Federal’s Jasper Corner.

37 local, interstate and international emerging & established dancers (with and without disabilities) worked with 8 choreographers who were mentored by Philip Channells, Josh Thomson, Craig Bary & Gavin Webber. Together they created a showcase of the week’s dance activity in The Main Event performance, which 150 local community members took part in.

The artistic line up for The Corner Dance Lab 2015 is: Phil Blackman, Sean Campbell, Philip Channells, Hsin-Ju Chiu (Raw), Ben Ely, Kate Harman, Lee-Anne Litton, Grayson Millwood, Kimberley McIntyre, Kellie O’Dempsey, Timothy Ohl, Laurie Young and Gavin Webber.

As an independent artist who grew up in Byron Bay, it was my immense pleasure in returning to the region to participate in The Corner Dance Lab. Having the opportunity to work with a number of world-renowned leaders in dance and physical theatre, amongst such an inspiring and rich natural landscape made this experience unbeatable. Working alongside such a diverse range of artists in such a collaborative manner was truly remarkable and the artistic connections created are invaluable. Early Bird Expressions of Interest for The Corner Dance Lab have now closed. Expressions of Interest for the general rate close on Monday 22 December 2014.

When: Friday 16 – Saturday 24 January

Where: Jasper Corner in Federal, New South Wales, Australia. (Jasper Corner is Federal’s Community Hall and former Anglican church)

Cost: Full registration $500 (waged), $450 (student & concession)
