IT’S ALL ABOUT ME (solo series)

Daniel Monks

Sydney-based multi award-winning filmmaker and emerging dancer, Daniel Monks joins Dance Integrated Australia’s creative director, Philip Channells in a 2-week residency at Jasper Corner, which is the cultural heart of the Federal community in rural NSW.

This residency period kickstarts the research and development of IT’S ALL ABOUT ME (solo series) as part of  The Corner Residency Program, which is a new initiative of Dance Integrated Australia.

Monks began dancing 12 months ago as a participant of Accessible Arts’ Catalyst Dance Masterclass Series. Since then he has participated in several dance projects in Sydney and regional NSW, including The Corner Dance Lab 2014, the Beyond Technique Residency #2 at Bundanon Trust, Bundanon Local Project: NO TIME LIKE NOW and the Melting Pot Residency at Bankstown Arts Centre

In 2014 Monks was awarded an Amplify your art grant through Accessible Arts to work with Channells across a series of dance projects. IT’S ALL ABOUT ME (solo series) will also bring together filmmaker and his long-time collaborator, Stevie Cruz-Martin who will use the residency period to develop the first stages of a new short dance film.
