Dance Integrated Australia’s Creative Director, Philip Channells will travel to Copenhagen in July to attend the 13th World Congress of Dance and the Child International (daCi). This 6-day event is a unique opportunity for everyone interested in dance and young people – to meet, dance, share, present and discuss issues related to the congress theme across age levels and professions.
In 2012, Channells attended the daCi/World Dance Alliance Global Summit in Taiwan where he shared his work, Next of Kin – no ordinary status family. It was here he met Norwegian delegates who became integral in the commissioning of his latest work, PERFECT (im)PERFECTIONS – stories untold, which premiered at the Multiplié dansfestival 2014 in Trondheim, Norway.
At daCi 2015 Channells will co-present ‘PERFECT (im)PERFECTIONS – creating dance art with performers with and without disabilities’ with Dr Tone Pernille Østern as part of the Lecture Sharing program 11:30 – 13:00 on Tue 7 July; and two disability-inclusive dance workshops at 14:00 – 15:30 on Tue 7 and 16:00 – 17:30 on Thu 9 July: ‘PERFECT (im)PERFECTIONS – an investigation into the creative processes’.
