Expressions of Interest are now being sought from Australian and international dance artists wishing to attend the second annual Beyond Technique Residency facilitated by Philip Channells / Dance Integrated Australia. This week-long disability-inclusive dance residency will take place at the Boyd Education Centre from Monday 30 June – Friday 4 July 2014.
Set on Bundanon Trust’s magnificent Riversdale property overlooking the Shoalhaven River just 2 1/2 hours south of Sydney, the Beyond Technique Residency #2 will provide up to 26 artists with and without disability an opportunity to work intensively alongside some of Australia’s most respected dance practitioners including Ambassador to Bundanon’s Artist in Residency program, Philip Channells (creative director), Lee-Anne Litton (Strings Attached) and filmmaker Tim Standing (Daylight Breaks).
The Boyd Education Centre (BEC) was designed by internationally celebrated Australian architect Glenn Murcutt in association with Reg Lark and Wendy Lewin. This building is the hub of the Bundanon Trust’s Education Programs and provides the central location for the Beyond Technique Residency #2.
This 5-day program focuses on developing solo and ensemble practice which will include:

- research and development of new creative ideas for dance / dance on screen
- developing solo and ensemble work inspired by the natural surrounds
- discourse on disability-inclusive and contemporary dance practice
- contact / improvisation jams
- dance films / dance on screen.
A showing of the solo and ensemble works created at Riversdale during the week will be open to the public on the final afternoon/evening of the residency. Dance Integrated Australia and Daylight Breaks will document this week with film and photography.
