DANCE OFF!
The Corner Dance Lab 2014 culminates in a showing and sharing of movement and dance works created during the week of master classes and workshops at Jasper Corner in Federal, just 30 minutes inland from Byron Bay in New South Wales.
The event is co-founded by local artists Philip Channells (Dance Integrated Australia) and Gavin Webber (Animal Farm Collective) who will be joined by some of Australia’s leading dance artists including Craig Bary, Phil Blackman, Kate Harman, Lee-Anne Litton and Joshua Thomson who will facilitate daily classes for dancers from across Australia with varied backgrounds, experiences and abilities.
Emerging artists, tertiary dance students, professional dancers, community arts practitioners, visual artists and academics from as far away as Auckland, Darwin, Brisbane, Blue Mountains, Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth have signed up to this week-long event. There are also more local artists from Beaudesert, Ballina, Byron Bay, Clunes, Golden Beach, Lismore, Murwillumbah, The Channon and Uki taking part in what will be an extraordinary event, the first of its kind for the region.
We will come together to challenge stereotypes and perceptions of what dance is and can be so the audience can really expect the unexpected. Philip Channells
