Joining the creative line up for The Corner Dance Lab 2016 is Northern Rivers based digital media artist, Marion Conrow. She will collaborate with Philip Channells (Dance Integrated Australia) and Gavin Webber (The Farm) and 30 other local, interstate and international artists.

The Corner Dance Lab will showcase the culmination of a 9-day program of dance, theatre, music and projections as part of The Main Event performance being held at Jasper Corner, Federal at 7:30 pm on Saturday 23 January 2016.

I am very excited about The Corner Dance Lab and to be working with Philip Channells and this team. This is my first return to working on a movement project since I sustained a mild traumatic brain injury in a major car accident in 2007. The Corner Dance Lab will be a life changing experience! BIOGRAPHY

Marion Conrow is a multimedia artist that focuses on the using the projected image within installations. Multidisciplinary, the focus is site specific projection installation using new and old media that explore a sense of loss of place by capturing memory both real and imagined. Marion rebuilds ghostly holographic environments that are both playful and dark; small objects become giant building blocks; humans become ghosts caught in a loop; reflections capture moving of daily life; the mundane, that in future becomes historic. She has created her own technology.

Marion’s work is evident in art projects nationally and internationally, working with Virtual Reality and movement based projects involving technology since the early 90’s . This includes sensor based and immersive virtual reality. She acquired a residency at University of Queensland Visac laboratory (Immersive VR) in 2005/7 funded by Arts Queensland. Resultant software work created was Intrac.

She has worked with One Extra with Kate Campion, Igneous, Circa, Stratus, Blast Theory (UK), Anatgon Aktion Theatre (Frankfurt), and numerous solo performers such as Eddie Kay (Scot),Victoria Hunt (NZ), Denis Beaubois (Syd), Aven Darling (Melb), Zaimon & Lizzie Vilamos (Bris). She trained under Julie Martin and Suzon Fuks and mentored by Judy Watson.

Marion Conrow born 1963 Yallourn Victoria. Since 1988 she primarily lived in Lismore NSW where she completed her Bachelor of Media Arts at Southern Cross University. She now resides in Bonalbo NSW.
